The Sheboygan County Division of Public Health announced Friday that all school-located H1N1 vaccination clinics scheduled for the month of November have been postponed.
Because of a shortage of H1N1 vaccine, the State of Wisconsin has requested local health departments focus immunization efforts on the following groups:
n Pregnant women
n Persons who care for or live with infants younger than 6 months
n Healthcare workers and Emergency Medical Services personnel who have direct patient contact
n Children between the ages of 6 months and 4 years
n Children and adolescents 5 to 18 years who have medical conditions that put them at higher risk for influenza-related complications.
At this time, no clinics are currently scheduled by the Division of Public Health. If vaccine inventory is made available, community clinics focused on these individuals may be scheduled toward the end of November.
When vaccine supplies are more abundant, the Division of Public Health will resume plans to vaccinate students while they are attending school. According to state health officials, vaccine will be more readily available in a few weeks.
