Employees were evacuated after a small fire was reported about 4 p.m. at the Thomas Industries plant near North 14th Street and Indiana Avenue.
The first firefighters on scene said nothing was visible from outside the building, and the fire was described as “under control” by 4:15 p.m., according to scanner reports.
A 911 dispatcher said the fire was in a dust collector in the die-cast division of the building at 1419 Illinois Ave., according to scanner reports. One emergency responder identified the blaze as an aluminum dust fire.
